Sorry, but I don’t subscribe to the notion that bold and bright colors are necessarily “garish.” Bold colors, skillfully used, can be stunning — and can help achieve a dramatic and elegant interior. A lot of the rooms shown here look bland and lifeless. A well-placed jolt of color would inject some vitality.
I think if you have that kind of architectural detail in a room, you can put a tennis shoe and a bowl of popcorn in it and everyone would still gasp.
